Waseda Symphony Orchestra

The Waseda Symphony Orchestra from Tokyo was founded an incredible 113 years ago, and its long and rich heritage exceeds that of most other Japanese ensembles. Playing for the first time in our Meisterkonzerte series, this remarkable orchestra will fill the Staatstheater with wall-to-wall sound in a performance of The Planets, Gustav Holst’s famous suite for orchestra. Expect to feel the force of nature in an immersive sound experience as we embark on a musical journey through the solar system. In the first half of the concert, the impressive Taiko ensemble, Eitetsu Fu-un no Kai, brings Seven Samurai to life with ancient and powerful drum rhythms. This promises to be a very special orchestral experience!
